The Act No. 180/2005 Sb. on the promotion of electricity from renewable energy sources contributed to the great development of PV in the CR and its main benefit is that it should:

• create conditions for meeting the indicative target concerning the share of electricity from renewable sources in gross electricity consumption in the Czech Republic in the amount of  8% by 2010 and create conditions for further increasing this share after 2010.

From 1. 1. 2008, the public notice ERO No. 364/07 Sb. amending the public notice No 475/2005 Sb. came into effect by means of which some provisions of the Act on the promotion of renewable sources can be carried out. The fundamental provision for photovoltaic is a change of indicative values of technical and economic parameters, especially in terms of the expected lifetime of a photovoltaic power plant, which increases from the original 15 to 20 years.

Therefore, the government of Czech Republic has introduced a system of purchase tariffs and green bonuses for following conditions for the year 2009. Electricity producers can choose from two support schemes: Direct sales and sales with the green bonus. (Set purchase tariffs and subsidies in the EU) Indicative target of the Czech Republic is to produce 8% of electricity from renewable sources, the Czech Republic has one of the lowest rates in the EU.
